    Sunday 9th November 2014
    Liberty Stadium, Swansea
    Kick Off - 4pm
    Live on Sky Sports 1
    Referee: Phil Dowd
    Stats: Swansea-Arsenal Statistical Preview

On Sunday we welcome Arsenal to the Liberty for one of the most attractive fixtures of the season. The Gunners were in buoyant mood after a 3-0 Premier League victory over Burnley but suffered a setback after allowing Anderlecht to recover from three goals down to draw 3-3 in the Champions League fixture on Tuesday night - and were booed off for their efforts.

On fire at the moment is Alexis Sanchez who has now scored 11 goals in 13 games, so expect our defence to have a severe examination! A win for the Swans will see us leapfrog the Gunners, with the possibility that we are back in a Champions League spot next Sunday.

Arsenals Away Form In The Prem This Season
    Everton 2-2 Arsenal (D)
    Leicester 1-1 Arsenal (D)
    Aston Villa 0-3 Arsenal (W)
    Chelsea 2-0 Arsenal (L)
    Sunderland 0-2 Arsenal (W)

The match is already SOLD OUT. Fair play to the Gunners fans, they are one of the few Clubs who always sell the away allocation and give a good account of themselves at the same time.

Since the Swans arrived in the Premier League we have played the Gunners on eight occasions, six times in the Premier League and twice in the FA Cup with the Swans winning two, drawing two and losing four:

    Sat 10 Sep 2011 - Arsenal 1 - 0 Swans (PL)
    Sun 15 Jan 2012 – Swans 3 – 2 Arsenal (PL)
    Sat 01 Dec 2012 - Arsenal 0 - 2 Swans (PL)
    Sun 06 Jan 2013 - Swans 2 – 2 Arsenal (F.A. Cup)
    Wed 16 Jan 2013 - Arsenal 1 - 0 Swans (F.A. Cup)
    Sat 16 Mar 2013 – Swans 0 – 2 Arsenal (PL)
    Sat 28 Sep 2013- Swans 1 - 2 Arsenal (PL)
    Tue 25 Mar 2014 - Arsenal 2 – 2 Swans (PL)

    Team News
    Swans
This is the fixture that Lucas Fabianski has firmly pencilled into his calendar and you can guarantee the ex-Arsenal stopper will be between the sticks! Jonjo Shelvey will be missing for the Swans after being sent off against Everton and Carroll could be his replacement in what is surely going to be a passing fest. After coming back from injury Tiendalli and Amat could be available but are unlikely to feature.

    Likely starting X1
Fabianski, Rangel, Williams, Fernandez, Taylor, Routledge, Carroll, Ki, Sigurrdson, Montero, Bony
    Bench
Dyer, Gomis, Bartley, Tremmel, Emnes, Fulton? TBC

    Arsenal
The main threat to the Swans will be the in-form Alexis Sanchez while Theo Walcott is likely to figure as he continues his comeback after a lengthy injury which kept him out of this years World Cup. A front line of Sanchez, Walcott and Welbeck could be one of the paciest front lines to visit the Liberty. Aaron Ramsey is likely to get a hot Liberty reception. Olivier Giroud, Arteta and Mesut Ozil are currently on the long term Arsenal injury list while Jack Wilshere may feature after an enforced break.

Below is Arsene Wengers selection against Burnley and the starting X1 against the Swans isn't likely to differ too much.

    Starting X1
    01 Szczesny, 21 Chambers, 04 Mertesacker, 18 Monreal 03 Gibbs, 08 Arteta , 20 Flamini, 15 Oxlade-Chamberlain, 17 Sánchez, 19 Cazorla, 23 Welbeck
    Bench
    07 Rosicky, 09 Podolski, 14 Walcott, 16 Ramsey, 22 Sanogo, 26 Martinez, 39 Bellerin

Looking forward to this one, should be an end to end thriller with two teams of pacey, skilful players really going for it.

Depends on wether we start playing like we know we can, or we keep at the trend we've seen lately where we really can't be called a possession team :(

Would rather Tom Carroll in the middle as he is more of a ball player than Fulton.
We are playing a team that are similar in style to us so there will be far more passing than there has been in other games rather than the lumping up field stuff...

I would prefer Fulton, seems to have more to his game than Carroll, and he has a physical presence that Tom lacks. He breaks up play better than tom and we'll need that on the weekend.

I'd be happy with a point from this one but there's no way we would survive a 90min. onslaught against these as we did against Everton,we'll have to get our attacking and passing game going for this one or at least keep the ball in their half as much as possible.

This game will be a real test of our steel. We got Man U when they weren't really out of the starting gate, we weren't expected to beat Chelsea, Liverpool weren't a real form match (and it was League Cup anyway), and we let Southampton nick it from us. I don't fancy our chances away to Man City the week after next. If we can take a point from this one then I'll think we're for real in being a top half team likely in eighth or better by season's end.

A Famous Arsenal Moment - No 2. 1989 - Michael Thomas wins the League Title
A shootout on the final day of the season. Liverpool will win the title as long as they don't lose 2-0 to Arsenal, who will win the title if they do. There's 90 minutes on the clock, Arsenal lead 1-0 but the title is in Liverpool's hands...................

After leading 3-0 tonight Arsenal threw away the lead and eventually drew 3-3 in the Champions League against Anderlecht. There were a few hefty fouls on Arsenal players in the last few minutes..............:whistle2: That man Sanchez scored another brace so we've got to have him covered on Sunday.
